The Symbolism of Washington, D. C.

The focus of this chapter includes the symbolism of the original "diamond" shaped boundary perimeters of Washington, D. C. and the Mall area of the District that is geographically located within the District in the representation of a fish. 

For the purposes of clarity, Washington, D. C. is the capital of the United States and the Mall area is identified as the geographical area located within Washington that includes the Capitol Building, White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and various other buildings. 

The Mall area is located within the imagery of a Fish that is cradled between the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers located within the boundaries of Washington, DC.  The symbolism of the "fish" that identifies the Mall area lying geographically within the enclosure of the city of Washington spiritually connects the District to many different nations and their different deities.  We will begin with the connection to ancient Nineveh.

In Biblical times Nineveh, like Washington, DC, was also represented by the picture of a fish inside the enclosure of a city.  According to Samuel Fallows, "The name of Nineveh is written Ninua and Nina in the cuneiform inscriptions.  A popular etymology connected it with the Assyrian nunu, 'fish,' at a very early date, since the name is ideographically represented by the picture of a fish inside the enclosure of a city." [1]

Pictured below is a map of the Mall – Central Area of the District of Columbia.  As can be seen, the Mall area of Washington, like ancient Nineveh, is represented by the picture or image of a fish inside the enclosure of a city.

It’s obvious that the representation of a fish was not just happenstance.  Needless to say, this is just another example to the degree of secrecy that George Washington and the Freemasons operated to serve their own appetites.  If the boundaries of a fish are not just a fluke, then that leads us to believe that there was something of paramount significance in “spiritually” connecting the symbol of a fish to the District of Columbia. 

I found it remarkable that the White House, the Capitol, Lincoln Memorial and several other buildings all correspond to the anatomy of a fish.    However, what’s more important is the spiritual significance of the symbolism of a fish.  And, in this section both will be detailed. 

Christians and Symbols

Numbers 33:51 ⁵¹Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye are passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan; ⁵²Then ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their pictures, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down all their high places: (KJV)

Acts 17:29 ²⁹ Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. (KJV)

Before we look into the symbolism as it applies to the District of Columbia I need to stress the following.  Given what Scripture tells us about art and pictures, then we need to come to terms that it’s not Scriptural for Christians to use the fish as a symbol of Christianity.  I said that to say the following to those Christians who will want to attach a Christian significance to the fish symbol as shown on the above map:  It will not stand the test of Scripture.  As Christians we are to use Scripture to discern the use of symbols and images; we are not to take the use of symbols and images to discern the Scriptures – it doesn’t work that way.  

Years before the New Testament Christian Church was founded, the pagans used the symbol of a fish as well as the cross in connection with their pagan deities.  The Roman Catholic Church, in direct disobedience to Scripture, instead of destroying pagan symbols, justified adopting the symbols by attaching a Christian significance to the pagan object.  Instead of the pagan leaving behind their worship of deities, they only passed on their ways to those unsuspecting Christians who blindly trusted in Church leadership to hear for them.  According to Jeremiah 10:2 we are not to learn the way of the heathen.  Further, 2 Kings 17 describes a situation where pagans from various nations worshiped the LORD alongside the pagan gods of their homeland as well; this is what has happened in the Catholic Church.  

“Not to learn the way of the heathen” does not mean that we’re not to be aware of its existence.  It’s one thing to be aware that paganism exits; it’s quite another to actually participate in their practices.  To be aware – is not sin.  To participate – is sin.  For example, to understand that levitation is sin – is not sin.  However, if I actually levitate an object, then at that point I am learning the way of the heathen and that is sin. 

Scripture tells us unless we know what sin is - how would we know when we are sinning? 

Romans 7:7 ⁷What then do we conclude?  Is the Law identical with sin?  Certainly not!  Nevertheless, if it had not been for the Law, I should not have recognized sin or have known its meaning.  [For instance] I would not have known about covetousness [I would have had no consciousness of sin or sense of guilt] if the Law had not [repeatedly] said, You shall not covet and have an evil desire [for one thing and another].  (Amplified Translation)

In other words, Scripture reveals to us that necromancy, the worship of gods and the worship of nature, etc. is sin in order that we know to stay away from those particular practices in order that we do not commit sin. 

I personally know people who went through Catholic catechism classes only later to find out that what the Roman Catholic Church had taught them as a child regarding the Ten Commandments was Church Doctrine and not according to Scripture.  For many, many years, to ensure Church Doctrine and the veneration of objects, the Catholic Church very conveniently left out the Commandment that forbids making “graven images” or any “likeness” of anything that is in heaven above, in the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.  “Likeness” is referring to anything fashioned with any resemblance or similarity of those things mentioned in Exodus 20:4. 

Exodus 20:4 ⁴Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (KJV)

At some later point the Church included the Commandment, only to give their own interpretation that still allowed images and the veneration of objects.  Since Catholic Church Doctrine claims that only Church Leadership has the authority to interpret Scripture, it was a mute point that their interpretation still violated the Commandment regarding images.  Needless to say, neither can stand the test of Scripture.  Sadly, many people place their relationship to the Church and man above that of the Lord and His Word.  

Regrettably, the Protestant Church has adopted this practice as well.  Again, there is not a Scriptural basis, other than just tradition, for Christians to justify the use of symbols to reflect their beliefs. 

Mark 7:13 ¹³thus you are nullifying and making void and of no effect [the authority of] the Word of God through our tradition, which you [in turn] hand on.  And many things of this kind you are doing.  (Amplified Bible)

Mark 7:13 describes the danger for those Christians who claim that if it was alright for their parents and grandparents then it is alright for them.  What they don’t understand is that they are confusing the traditions of man with Scripture. 

I am not responsible for what my parents taught me, however, I am accountable for what I teach my children.  My mother had an intimate walk with the LORD; however, like many others, she unknowingly embraced the traditions of the Church as Scriptural and passed on those traditions to me.  Nonetheless, as the LORD revealed to me those traditions of the Church that had pagan roots, I willingly laid them down at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ.  My desire is to worship the LORD in “spirit and in truth” not according to the traditions of man, if that tradition causes me to sin.  Accordingly, I passed on to my family the difference between the traditions of man and to worship the LORD in spirit and in truth.  And, Scripture tells us that we should live up to whatever truth we have attained.  (Philippians 3:16)  

Tradition misrepresents who the LORD is and until we allow Him to break down those particular misrepresentations, we will let tradition define who the LORD is and we will never have the complete knowledge of who He really is.  Traditions of man will keep up from worshipping the LORD in spirit and in truth. 

Back to the Founding Fathers and the symbolism of the fish.  It is obvious that those who were given the position of authority to determine the boundaries of our Nation’s Capitol purposely and knowingly chose to establish the boundaries of the Mall within the shape of a fish. 

Given their lack of documentation on particular subjects, it is evident that their intent was for the symbolism to remain hidden not only from the public, but from many of their fellow Freemasons as well.  And, what were they conveying, yet hiding, not only about our Nation’s Capitol, but about themselves as well? 

Albert Pike, considered by many as the most knowledgeable of American Freemasonry and author of Morals and Dogma, has much to say about the true meaning behind Freemasonry symbolism that is hidden even from other Freemasons [emphasis (bold lettering and italics) added].

 “[The Blue Degrees are but the outer court or portico of the Temple.  Part of the symbols are displayed there to the Initiate, but he is intentionally misled by false interpretations.  It is not intended that he shall understand them; but it is intended that he shall imagine he understands them.  Their true explication is reserved for the Adepts, the Princes of Masonry.  The whole body of the Royal and Sacerdotal Art was hidden so carefully, centuries since, in the High Degrees, as that it is even yet impossible to solve many of the enigmas which they contain.  …” [3]

Pike elaborated that, “Masonry, like all the Religions, all the Mysteries, Hermeticism and Alchemy, conceals its secrets from all except the Adepts and Sages, or the Elect, and uses false explanations and misinterpretations of its symbols to mislead those who deserve only to be misled; to conceal the Truth, which it calls Light, from them, and to draw them away from it.    Truth is not for those who are unworthy or unable to receive it, or would pervert it.   …..  So Masonry jealously conceals its secrets, and intentionally leads conceited interpreters astray.” [4]

Pike goes on to explain, “The symbols and ceremonies of Masonry have more than one meaning.  They rather conceal than disclose the Truth.” [5]

Given that a “fish” is part of the natural world, Pike’s explanation of “nature” gives us insight as to why Freemason’s use of symbolism includes that of the environment [emphasis (bold lettering and italics) added]. 

“The Mysteries were a Sacred Drama, exhibiting some legend significant of nature’s changes, of the visible Universe in which the Divinity is revealed, and whose import was in many respects as open to the Pagan as to the Christian.  Nature is the great Teacher of man; for it is the Revelation of God.  It neither dogmatizes nor attempts to tyrannize by compelling to a particular creed or special interpretation.  It presents its symbols to us, and adds nothing by way of explanation.  It is the text without the commentary; and, as we well know, it is chiefly the commentary and gloss that lead to error and heresy and persecution.  The earliest instructors of mankind not only adopted the lessons of Nature, but as far as possible adhered to her method of imparting them.  In the Mysteries, beyond the current traditions or sacred and enigmatic recitals of the Temples, few explanations were given to the spectators, who were left, as in the school of nature, to make inferences for themselves.  No other method could have suited every degree of cultivation and capacity.  To employ nature’s universal symbolism instead of the technicalities of language, rewards the humblest inquirer, and discloses its secrets to every one in proportion to his preparatory training and his power to comprehend them.” [6]

Obviously, Pike disregards Scripture’s account when Aaron, the brother of Moses, drew upon nature and made an image of a golden calf. 

Exodus 32:7-9 ⁷And the Lord said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: ⁸ They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. ⁹ And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: (KJV)

Acts 7:40-41 ⁴⁰Saying unto Aaron, Make us gods to go before us: for as for this Moses, which brought us out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. ⁴¹And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands. (KJV)

In reality, Pike and other Freemasons, like the Israelites, fell prey to rejoicing in the works of their own hands.

Furthermore, in Ezekiel 8, what the LORD refers to as idolatry in the Temple, Pike embraces.  For example, the LORD considers the drawings of the “crawling things” and “detestable animals” portrayed over the walls as detestable, while Freemasons embrace the image and symbolism of these very animals.  In verse 13-14 we find that the LORD considers Tammuz, a Babylonian god, an abomination, yet Freemasons embrace the mysteries of this same pagan deity.

The Gebalites and George Washington the Surveyor & Mapmaker:  Who were these architects or more specifically who were the surveyors and mapmakers whose roles have had such a profound affect in the part they played in determining the exact placement and shape of the Nation’s boundaries? 

George Washington’s role as a surveyor and mapmaker as well as a Freemason is more significant than anyone fully understands.  His knowledge as a surveyor and mapmaker was crucial when he chose the present geographical site where the District of Columbia is located.   And the ways in which he applied those skills were also well hidden. 

George Washington commissioned Pierre L’Enfant to lay out the city in accordance with Washington’s own specifications.  Both Washington and L’Enfant realized that their plans for the District of Columbia could not be fully realized in their own lifetimes.  After their deaths, the intent was that anyone building upon the foundations already laid down by them would continue to build according to their original plan and according to the foundation that they, as Master Freemasons, had laid. 

Long after both their deaths, even though others at times have strayed slightly from the original plans to some degree or other, the purpose and foundations have remained intact.  Even though Freemasons as a whole will never have the full understanding of Freemasonry, there will always be a remnant within Freemasonry that understands the intent of the Founding Fathers.  They are the ones who are responsible for protecting the spiritual foundations laid down by George Washington and other Freemasons.   

Secrets of Freemasonry Is Revealed:  Scripture tells us that nothing is hidden from the LORD and that He will reveal every hidden thing.  In Jeremiah 16:17 the LORD makes known that the lifeless forms of the vile images that our Secular Founding Fathers defiled America’s land with are not hidden from Him.

Jeremiah 16:17-18 ¹⁷My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from Me, nor is their sin concealed from My eyes.  ¹⁸I will repay them double for their wickedness and their sin, because they have defiled My land with the lifeless forms of their vile images and have filled My inheritance with their detestable idols.  (NIV, emphasis added)

The Freemasons may believe that their secrets are hidden; however, the LORD is revealing what they believe to be hidden, to people like myself.  And, we in turn are to share with others the spiritual significance and how it has and still affects America.

George Washington the Surveyor & Mapmaker:  The ancient men of Gebal, also known as stonesquarers, were the “Master Masons” of 1 Kings 5:18.  Like George Washington they were surveyors and mapmakers. 

1 Kings 5:18 ¹⁸And Solomon's builders and Hiram's builders did hew them, and the stonesquarers: so they prepared timber and stones to build the house.(KJV)

The word Gegal is used interchangeably with the word “stone-squarer”.  And according to the Hebrew, the word “Gebal” means a line or a natural boundary.  Whereas “stone-squarer” means to set a boundary by means of a line or cord.  

Old Testament Map Makers:  Surveying and mapmaking have been around since Biblical times.  In Joshua 18, the Israelites were instructed to survey and make a map of the land. 

Joshua 18:8 ⁸As the men started on their way to map out the land, Joshua instructed them, “Go and make a survey of the land and write a description of it.  Then return to me, and I will cast lots for you here at Shiloh in the presence of the LORD. (NIV, emphasis added)

The word “border” in Joshua 19:10 is from the same Hebrew meaning for “Gebal” so we know that the men of Gebal were surveyors and mapmakers.

Symbolism of the District Fish:  Symbols transcend language barriers and communicate effectively with some while hiding the meaning from others.  For example, pagans communicate with other pagans through symbols while hiding the meaning from non-pagans. 

Principalities, also known as gods or deities, hide their identity behind symbols made by man.  However, once the symbols are identified, the principality is exposed.  As long as the meaning of the symbol remains hidden the principality remains hidden. 

Not everyone who uses symbols is using the symbol to hide behind.  Symbols are also used by people in general, not just those who are trying to conceal a hidden message.  Some people just like symbols.  That's one of the reasons why principalities can hide behind symbols.  One person can view symbols as art, while to another the same symbol is idolatry. 

Given that some may say that symbols are open to interpretation, I would like to share some "clearly identifiable" or "distinctive" symbolism concerning the Washington, DC Mall that could not just have been coincidence.  Two interesting pieces of symbolism are hidden within the layout of the mall area:  "a fish and Masonic trademarks".

A Fish Inside The Enclosure Of A City (annotated)

First, the mall area of the city is in the unmistakable form of a fish (see annotated map above).  Not only does the area resemble a fish, but the placement of all the buildings and monuments are strategically located according to the anatomical functions of a fish. 

Starting at the top of the fish and proceeding clockwise, we find externally a dorsal fin, caudal fin or tail, gills, and a head.  Internally are the heart and reproductive organs.  On top of the fish is the dorsal fin.  This is the part of the fish that lends stability in swimming.  The dorsal fin is where the White House, the executive branch of government, is located and the White House like the dorsal fin lends stability to the legislative branch of our government. 

The tail of the fish, also called the caudal fin, is the main propelling fin of the fish.  This is the location of the U.S. Capitol that houses Congress, the legislative branch of government, and like the caudal fin, the legislative branch of our government is what propels America. 

Representative of the gills, the breathing apparatus that takes water in and extracts oxygen for the fish, is the Tidal Basin.  Just as the gills of a fish are located slightly behind the eye, the Tidal Basin is located slightly behind the eye on the map.  And, the water in the Tidal Basin functions in the same manner as the water that goes in and out of the gills.

At the head of the fish where the brain is located is the Lincoln Memorial.  The Lincoln Memorial was designed to architecturally resemble the ancient Greek Parthenon in Athens, which was the shrine for the Greek goddess Athena, sometimes called the mind of god.  Just as Athena was the mind of a pagan god and was born at the head of the river, Lincoln’s Memorial was built in the head or mind of the fish with the head located on the Potomac River.  Athena was also the goddess of wisdom and war, two characteristics of Lincoln’s presidency.   Importantly, Lincoln was the 16^th president of the United States, a number that is extremely significant to Freemasonry.

Two internal organs are also represented.  The heart of a fish is located near and directly behind the gills of the fish.  This is the location of the Jefferson Memorial.  Jefferson was instrumental in authoring the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, particularly the first ten amendments known as the Bill of Rights.  More than anything else, these documents represent the “heart” of the American experience. 

Finally, the reproductive organs of the fish are found on the bottom of the fish near the tail, but extending diagonally inward to the center of the fish.  This is the exact location of the Washington Monument, an obelisk that is an ancient symbol of sun worship found in many ancient civilizations, including Babylon and Egypt.  The sun was the giver of life to plants and man; in this context, the obelisk was also the phallic symbol of reproductive significance.  George Washington, of course, is affectionately known as the “father of our country” and his phallic symbol is right where it should be.

This examination only scratches the surface of the fish symbolism.  For example, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica as well as some other historians, L’Enfant, architect of the capital city, “L’Enfant’s ideas for a capital city were based not on 13 colonies with 3,000,000 inhabitants but on a republic ultimately having 50 states and 500,000,000 citizens.” [7]  As a “timely” point of interest, according to a U. S. Census Bureau press release, as of Tuesday, October 17, 2006, the United States population reached the 300 million mark at 7:46 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time. [8] The 300 million mark is only 200 million shy of L’Enfant’s 500,000,000 estimate which no doubt will eventually be realized.

Given L’Enfant’s vision in 1790 of 50 states it’s interesting that a fish has 50 or 51 scales that make up the lateral line of a fish.  The lateral line of a fish, which extends from the top of the gills to the tail, just so happens to correspond to the location of the Mall with its straight line extending from the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol.  Furthermore, the lateral line of most fish consists of 49 to 53 scales, but the most common are 50 or 51.  Again, it just so happens that America has 50 states and with the addition of the District of Columbia the total is 51. 

In the tail of the fish is Capitol Hill, and an ancient “high place” where the Algonquian Indians used to hold their tribal councils.  The Capitol grounds are in the shape of a goat’s head, symbolic of Satan.  In Masonic symbolism, they intended the nation to be propelled (caudal fin) by Satan, not God.  And the list goes on.

Freemasons often use one symbol to convey more than one idea (or spirit) while at the same time achieving a particular objective which involves multiple concepts or beliefs.  And so it was with the image of the fish. 

Spiritually, the fish is symbolic of Leviathan, a large sea monster or serpent, the fish-god Dagon, and Rahab, all of which are referenced in the Bible.  While not the main ruling spirit, Leviathan, Rahab and Dagon, are three of the ruling principalities over the city of Washington, D. C. 

Dagon, the fish deity fish was an object of idolatry worshiped by the Philistines, 1 Samuel 5. 

Leviathan is referenced in Job 41, Psalm 74 and Isaiah 27.  Leviathan not only means "twisted," or "coiled", Leviathan also means to cause to lend and borrow.  Leviathan is a large sea animal and this spirit is also identified as a dragon or serpent as well.  Whether a large fish or serpent, the Leviathan is symbolic of a powerful enemy opposed to righteousness.   

Rahab means to be proud and arrogant and is a poetical reference to Egypt in Psalm 87:4; 89:10; and Isaiah 51:9.  Rahab was symbolic of a dragon or a large sea monster. 

People in DC Compared to Fish

Oliver Wolcott, Secretary of Treasury from 1795 to 1800 even compared the residents of DC to bad fish.  "Many Congressmen turned up their noses and wondered how long it would take to write off a bad experiment in capital location and begin again.  Oliver Wolcott, the Secretary of the Treasury, possibly noting the absence of any source of taxes, observed that 'the people are poor, and as far as I can judge, they live like fishes, by eating each other,'" [9]  (emphasis added)

The people that Oliver Wolcott described as fish are much like the Israelites that were described as fish in Habakkuk 1:13-17.  I believe that the symbolism of the fish is also representative of those people that are being taken advantage of in America through the schemes of those lawmakers and lobbyists who are getting rich and living lives of luxury at the expense of those Americans that they have purposely misled. 

Habakkuk 1:13-17 ¹³Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong.  Why then do You tolerate the treacherous?  Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than themselves?  ¹⁴You have made men like fish in the sea, like sea creatures that have no ruler.  ¹⁵The wicked foe pulls all of them up with hooks, he catches them in his net, he gathers them up in his dragnet; and so he rejoices and is glad.  ¹⁶Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury and enjoys the choices food.   ¹⁷Is he to keep on emptying his net, destroying nations without mercy?  (NIV, emphasis added)

Habakkuk cries out to the LORD because the enemy is treating Israel like helpless fish that have been caught in their nets.  Worse yet, it seems that the enemy’s goal is to continue to repeat the process until the entire nation of Israel is destroyed.  Habakkuk sees Israel being swallowed up as though they were mere fish to be consumed.  The enemy is devouring the choicest foods and living in luxury at the expense of the Israelites.

The Israelites have been maliciously overwhelmed by their enemy.  Their goal is to deliberately and without mercy deceive and destroy the Israelites as though they were mere fish to be devoured.  To devour means to “eat greedily” and in devouring Israel enabled the enemy to live in luxury. 

Because their methods proved successful, after emptying their nets, they continued to repeat the process, ensuring their life of luxury.  Afterwards they offered sacrifices and burned incense to the gods of their net and dragnet, which they believed enabled them to catch fish or in this case the Israelites.    It was through their own strength that the enemy was overcoming the Israelites and verse 11 tells us that the enemy’s own strength became their god.  Even today this trends continues.

The District of Columbia is "Diamond" Shaped

The instructions for the survey of Washington, DC, determined by President George Washington, resulted in the boundaries shaped like a diamond. [10]  On the map shown below you can see the distinctive diamond shape of the District of Columbia.

The symbolism of the diamond shaped perimeter is significant and the symbolism conveys more than one idea.  To begin with,

The Square of Pegasus is oriented in the Sky as a Diamond

“… these four stars form the Square of Pegasus.  In iconography this square was at times portrayed as filled with water or fish, because it was in the constellation of Pisces.  The Square was considered the starting point in the mapping of the sky.” [11]

On Earth As In Heaven.  Just as the Square of Pegasus was Diamond shaped with a fish portrayed within its boundaries; enclosed inside the Diamond shaped perimeters of Washington, DC is a fish as well.

And, just as the Square of Pegasus was considered the starting point in the mapping of the sky, the original thirteen states were measured from a compass rose that is located within the center of the Crypt inside the US Capitol Building, again, located within the Diamond shaped Square.

A Sacred Enclosure:  The 40 square mile perimeter of Washington, DC is a spiritual perimeter identified by 40 stone markers placed at one mile intervals per the instructions of George Washington.  These 40 stone markers were used to create a Temenos, a wall surrounding land that was considered sacred.  Located within this 40 mile spiritual perimeter, is the U.S. Capitol building, which was built to house deities. 

Given that the United States Capitol was also known as “The Temple of Liberty” or “The Temple of Minerva” – both goddesses – then I believe the forty-mile square perimeter of land was considered to be sacred land.  A Temple doesn’t necessarily indicate that the purpose is for worship  - the purpose can be for a “dwelling place for a deity”. [13]

The first stone of a building or the first stone or marker laid to identify a geographical area is considered the most important.  So, needless to say if the first stone of the forty-mile square perimeter of the District which was erected where the Hunting Creek meets the Potomac River is important – then the first stone identifying the headsprings of the Potomac River itself would be extremely significant in its symbolism. 

Not only did George Washington decide where the District's first stone was to be erected - more importantly, at approximately the age of sixteen, George Washington surveyed the headsprings of the Potomac River.  The headspring of a river is symbolic of where the river is born.  In that light - life for the Potomac River began at Fairfax Stone in Thomas, West Virginia.  According to an inscription located at Fairfax Stone "Some Historians believe that the original marker was set by a youthful George Washington".

The first picture “Fairfax Stone Historical Monument” reads: 

“Originally marked in 1746, the Fairfax Stone established the western boundary of land granted to Lord Fairfax by the King of England.  Some Historians believe that the Marker was set by a youthful George Washington.  The site is the Headspring of the North Branch of the Potomac River.  This Historic spot marks the meeting place of Preston, Grant & Tucker Counties and the West Virginia – Maryland Border.

This State Park is operated and maintained by the Parks & Recreation section of the Division of Natural Resources.”

It’s significant that the headsprings of the Potomac River is located in the State of West Virginia.  Spiritually speaking this is one of the reasons that the Union wanted to secure that portion of the State of Virginia even before the first Battle of Manassas.  Later on during the Civil War, that part of Virginia was included in what became the state of West Virginia. 

Abraham Lincoln allowed the western part of Virginia to secede illegally from the state of Virginia, therefore the state of West Virginia was the only state born in rebellion,

The spiritual significance of the location of the headsprings in West Virginia will be explained more fully in another section.

The second picture shown below is literally of the headsprings itself.  The headsprings of the Potomac begins with only a trickle of water which explains why you can’t see water in the picture.

If a stone has been erected on a piece of land for the purposes of dedicating that land to a deity, that gives that spirit (deity) authority over that particular piece of land.  The land is actually more important to a spirit than the buildings on the land.   The Fairfax Stone not only marks the headsprings, however, by implication, spiritually marks and claims the entire Potomac River whose beginnings are in West Virginia with the Fairfax Stone identifying the “Stronghold” or “Power Center” of the entire Potomac River.

When Joshua and the Israelites went into the Promised Land – before they took the land itself – they had to drive out the pagans and their gods.

The Bible reveals to us that pagan gods do have authority over land.  For example, we find in Judges 11 that Jephthah is challenged by the Ammonites over land.  Jephthah in disputing their claim explains how Israel came to possess the land in dispute, then he refers to their national deity, Chemosh. 

Judges 11:24 ²⁴Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the Lord our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.

Jephthah suggests to the Ammonites that they should be content with the land their god has given them.  

In Jeremiah 49 we read of another example of a deity in possession of a town.  Molech also a god of the Ammonites is in possession of Gad. 

Jeremiah 49:1, 3 ¹Concerning the Ammonites: This is what the LORD says: “Has Israel no sons? Has she no heirs? Why then has Molech taken possession of Gad? Why do his people live in its towns? … ³“Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is destroyed! Cry out, O inhabitants of Rabbah! Put on sackcloth and mourn; rush here and there inside the walls, for Molech will go into exile, together with his priests and officials. (NIV)

Michael the archangel contended with the devil himself: 

Jude 1:9 ⁹Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee. (KJV)

These are but a few examples of the war going on in the heavenlies:  Ephesians 6:12 ¹²For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  The war in the heavenlies determine the war on the earth.  Principalities are spirits, also referred to as gods or deities by pagans. 

In Daniel 10:13-21 a messenger sent by Yahweh to deliver a message to Daniel describes a war in the heavenlies to Daniel.  And the war in the heavenlies had to be fought before the message was delivered to the earth.  For twenty-one days, the geographical principalities over Persia prevented the messenger from delivering the message to Daniel.  This messenger was able to deliver the message to Daniel only after Michael the archangel came to his aid.  

Daniel 10:13-14 ¹³ But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.   ¹⁴ Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days. (KJV)

Because of all the rituals and pagan symbols in Washington, D. C. – one can easily conclude that the land, as well as the buildings, were dedicated to pagan deities.   Keep in mind that Washington, Jefferson, etc. were intelligent men and intelligent men would not be involved in rituals nor be so interested in symbolism unless there was a real purpose!

The Lord's people erected stones for specific purposes.  The difference is that the boundary stones, buildings and monuments in DC are associated with stars, pagan customs and pagan deities.  For example, when the boundary cornerstone of the District was established on April 15, 1791, the group laying the marker, consisting mostly of Freemasons, met around 3:00 p.m., drank a toast and proceeded to Jones Point to lay the stone with Masonic rituals.  “At exactly 3:30 P.M., Jupiter, the most beneficial planet in the skies, began to rise over the horizon.  It was in 23 degrees of Virgo.  If we assume that the unknown astronomer [Banneker] had selected this moment consciously, then he had seized on the moment when the zodiacal Virgo was exerting an especially strong and ben eficial influence.  By this means, the zodiacal power of Virgo, which was called in later Masonic circles “the ‘Beautiful Virgin,” was able to stamp her benign influence on the building of the federal city.  Was this one of the contributing reasons why many astrologers have insisted that Washington, D.C. is ruled by zodiacal Virgo?” [14]  This pattern of using astrology, astrological charts and Masonic rituals continued with other Washington, DC buildings and monuments, including Masonic cornerstone rituals.

The Fish Petroglyphs & Washington, DC

Back to some of the reasons why Washington chose the shape of a diamond for the perimeters of Washington, DC.  I believe that George Washington chose the shape of a diamond for several reasons.  I believe one of the reasons is connected to the fish petroglyphs found alongside the banks of the Potomac River (see the diagram below).  The Native American Indians worshipped nature and I suspect that the fish carvings were connected to the worship of fish.  One of the meanings of the word Potomac means to "pay tribute to".  And, in some way the fish petroglyphs were symbolic of paying tribute to the Potomac River, where according to mythology and nature worship, life began.

1.  There are many fish petroglyphs that have been found along the Potomac River.  These petroglyphs, “Carved into the stone, two concentric lines surround a "diamond-shaped" stylized fish.  Three concavities in the center represent its eyes and a mouth.” [16] (emphasis added)

2.  The above picture also shows a "forked tail" at the end of the fish.  This forked tail looks like a "Y" with a line drawn across the top forming a "triangle".

3.  Pictured on the map entitled “Potomac River Parks”, you can see the Diamond, the “Y” formed by the Potomac River and the Eastern Branch and the fish cradled inside the “Y”.  I believe the "Y" is symbolic of the "forked tail" or the fish's tail found on the fish petroglyphs found along the Potomac River as well as the mystical Y.

Pictured is Jones Point which is the upper cape of “Hunting Creek” and Jones Point is where the first of the forty Boundary Stones were set.

Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, is also shown.  Of interest, Mount Vernon was originally known as “Little Hunting Creek Plantation”.  It’s obvious that in some subtle way Washington was “spiritually” connecting “Hunting Creek” with his home, Mount Vernon. [18]

4.  This same type of a “Y”, according to Albert Pike in Morals and Dogma is “the mystical Y; both alluding to the Triune God” [19] and is the unspeakable name of a deity.  Again, one symbol can both convey and reveal more than one idea.

Per George Washington's instructions, the first cornerstone of the forty-mile square perimeter of Washington, DC began at Jones Point in Virginia where the Hunting Creek meets the Potomac.  In other words, symbolically, the District of Columbia began in the waters of the Potomac. The Hunting Creek merging with the Potomac River is symbolic of two parents.  Again, Washington was “spiritually” connecting “Hunting Creek”, Mount Vernon also known as Hunting Creek Plantation and the Potomac River.

Washington also specified that the lines drawn from this original point were to cross over the Potomac on the one side and the Eastern Branch on the other side with these two lines eventually meeting in a point.  It’s apparent that Washington was very aware of the rivers and their part in the boundaries of Washington, DC.

Notice the red line running from the “West Point” through the center all the way to the “East Point”.  This red line cuts a path through the Potomac River, the Image of the Fish and the Eastern Branch – spiritually connecting all three.  Unless the two opposite points, West and East were positioned exactly as they are – they would not cross over the two rivers nor the image of the fish.

The line that runs through the center of the diamond also identifies two triangles.

Triangles

Triangles are particularly sacred to the occult and Freemasons.  And, it will soon be obvious that George Washington was familiar with the concept of triangles.

Given George Washington’s intimate involvement with both the location of the Nation’s Capital and having surveyed the headsprings of the Nation’s River, we should not be surprised to discover that the diamond is made up of two triangles nor that the headsprings of the Potomac River is the apex of a triangle that encompasses over 5,000,000 acres of land.  Later on in this section is a map illustrating this particular map and triangle. 

Satan’s Tabernacle at the US Capitol 

The original diamond shaped square of DC was a 40 mile square perimeter - the diamond shaped square was symbolic of a tent and 40 was symbolic of the 40 years that the Israelites carried the tent of their pagan gods through the wilderness (Acts 7:42-43, Amos 5:25).  Originally, Washington, DC was referred to as a wilderness as well.  Just as the tent of the LORD housed the "ark of the covenant" – the U. S. Capitol was described as the "ark of the American covenant".  "Henry James, writing in The American Scene, perceptively described the Capitol as the 'ark of the American covenant, (emphasis added)…as a compendium of all the national terms and standards, weights and measures and emblems of greatness and glory, and indeed as a builded [sic] record of half the collective vibrations of a people; their conscious spirit, their public faith, their bewildered taste, their ceaseless curiosity, their arduous and interrupted education.'" [20]

And just as the LORD’s Tabernacle was always set up in the “middle” of the Israelite’s camp (Numbers 2:17) – the US Capitol that houses the “ark of the American covenant” is located at the center of the 40 mile square perimeter of Washington, DC.

The Tabernacle Was a Copy and Shadow of the Heavenly Tabernacle

Satan’s Counterfeit Tent of Tabernacles identifies the Gateway of the Enemy

Satan, wanting to be like the God most high, counterfeited his so-called Tabernacles here on earth to mimic the Tabernacle of Yahweh.  So, to understand what Satan’s counterfeit Tabernacles look like we need to understand the Scriptural basis of Yahweh’s Tabernacle.

Yahweh Dwelt Among Them in the Tent of the Tabernacle: Exodus 25:8-9 ⁸ Then have them make a sanctuary for Me, and I will dwell among them.  ⁹ Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you. 

Hebrews 8:5 ⁵They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven.  This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle:  See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain. 

The Tent of Jehovah:  Isaiah 40:22 ²² It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in (KJV, emphasis added)

Psalm 104:2 ² who coverest thyself with light as with a garment who hast stretched out the heavens like a tent.  (Revised Standard Translation)

The earthly Tabernacle was symbolic of Yahweh’s Heavenly Tent and was often called tent or tabernacle from its external appearance.  The outer covering of the Tabernacle would have been designed like a “tent” - “triangular” in shape with the top or ceiling of the inner covering flat in appearance with four sides as well as the shape of the bottom of the tabernacle or tent being flat with four sides. 

Satan’s Tabernacle or Tent:

The ancients thought in terms of fish and triangles as being symbolic of gateways or doors.  From personal experience as well as research, many of the “gateways of the enemy” are identified through the symbolism of being “triangular” in shape.  For example, the Semitic people used the following symbol, known as Daleth, when referring to a door or a fish: 

Notice the resemblance to the fish petroglyphs found on the Potomac:  the diamond shape as well as the triangular tail.  Both the diamond which is made up of two triangles and the fish identify the 40 square mile perimeter of Washington DC as a Gateway of the Enemy. 

To the Phoenicians, Daleth meant a “tent” door because of the resemblance of a tent in the shape of the triangle and their symbol for Daleth was as follows:

Later, Daleth became known to the Greeks as the Delta shown as a triangle:  ∆

On their journey from Egypt to Canaan, whenever the Israelites moved their camp, they also moved the Tent of Tabernacle with them.  We know from Amos 5:26 that Satan had a counterfeit tabernacle to the Tabernacle that went with the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan.  And, just as the Israelites moved the Tent of the Tabernacle, Satan also picked up and moved his Tabernacle.  Even today these Tabernacles or triangular gateways can be identified all over the world. 

And, we as Christians are to Stand in these Gateways: 

Genesis 22:17 ¹⁷That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; (KJV, emphasis added)

Genesis 24:60 ⁶⁰And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them. (KJV, emphasis added)

We know from Genesis 22:17 that “gateways of the enemy” do exist and furthermore that we are to possess them.  These gateways identify geographical areas where Satan has set up a stronghold of authority – a place whereby he dwells and demonic activity takes place.  Again, from personal experience as well as research, many of the “gateways of the enemy” are identified, in the natural realm, by their “triangular” shape. 

 These triangles can come together to form a diamond or even come together as following:  an X, or  ><  forming the so-called sacred X, etc.

Remember that Satan has declared that he would make himself to be like the Most High (Isaiah 14:14).  For this reason the triangular gateways are symbolic of Yahweh’s “Tent” which was triangular as well as having four sides.  However, Satan can only attempt to be like the LORD by means of counterfeiting and at best his counterfeiting is “Imperfect”.

The tent of a god would have been square at the bottom and triangular at the top.  The fish petroglyph is also square at the base with a triangle within, which can be symbolic of a triangle at the top (the 3 concavities connecting to make a triangle) and symbolic of a tent.  The perimeters of Washington, DC are both diamond shaped and square, as the fish petroglyph was diamond shaped – also being a square.  The triangle shape of a tent is found within the fish petroglyph as well as the triangle found within the perimeters of Washington, DC.  Interestingly, the Federal Triangle (a triangular area of U.S. Government buildings bounded by 15^th Street, Pennsylvania Avenue and Constitution Avenue) lies within the image of the fish on the map of DC. 

The three concavities are symbolic of three gods and when the three concavities are connected, they are symbolic of a triangle.

1.  On the two above maps you can also see that the Capitol building itself is located in the tail of a fish with that particular fish itself cradled in the tail of a larger fish (this 2^nd tail is the Y that is formed by the two rivers).  Again, it is the tail that propels the fish.

2.  The three concavities are arranged in the form of a triangle and I believe that the Federal Triangle ties in with the triangle formed in the fish petroglyphs.

3.  According to ancient beliefs, these three concavities are also symbolic of three principalities

Because the perimeters of the diamond shape of DC is measured in a forty mile square then the diamond is actually a square as well and the three circular concavities inside the diamond shaped fish petroglyph are in the form of a triangle.  The circle, square and the triangle have spiritual symbolism to the occult and Freemasons. 

However, before we go to the symbolism of the circle, the square and the triangle, I believe there is another specific reason that Washington chose the shape of a diamond.

The Adamant Stone

Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary defines “adamant” as, “utterly unyielding in attitude or opinion in spite of all appeals, urgings, etc.”.  Some synonyms listed are inflexible, rigid and uncompromising.  The Biblical usage of “adamant” identifies "Adamant" with a "Diamond".  Spiritually, adamant meant to be rigid and uncompromising in resisting the truth and indicated a heart attitude of one’s heart being hardened against the truth. 

Ezekiel 3:8-9 ⁸Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. ⁹As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house. (KJV)

Jeremiah 17:1 ¹The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars; (KJV)

According to Hebrew 8068 in Strong’s Concordance, both "diamond" and "adamant" means:  “from Hebrew 8104 (shamar) in the original sense of pricking; a thorn; also (from its keenness for scratching) a gem, probably the diamond :- adamant (stone), brier, diamond.” (emphasis added)

The symbolism of Ezekiel's forehead being as an adamant in Ezekiel 3:9 indicates that Ezekiel will be absolutely unyielding in his position.  When it is said of someone that they are being "adamant" it is understood that that person is unyielding in their opinion; regardless of what others may say – they remain unmovable.  The implication is that when someone is adamant, well, you may as well give up. 

America likened to an "Adamant Stone" would imply that America would be a country that would be resolute in her beliefs – whatever those beliefs might be.  Then if George Washington wanted to convey the idea that America was unmovable, unyielding, unafraid, not dismayed, invincible, unconquerable, ……… then this idea could be conveyed through the symbolism of an "adamant stone"; in the shape of a diamond.  I believe that Washington wanted to convey the idea that America was to be adamant in her opinions and set her face as an adamant stone against any opposing Nation. That America was to have invincible armed forces with unshakable courage and that America was to be unconquerable in war.

Even today, America is "adamant" in her attitude that America is "invincible" in war.  Read the following from The Washington Post (emphasis added):

"President Bush has outlined an expansive, even grandiose, view of the role the United States must play in combating terrorism and tyranny that suggests a tension in his own mind – and the minds of his aides – between the need for international cooperation and the belief that at times this country will have to act alone.  'We're never going to get people all in agreement about force and use of force,' he said in an interview.  'But action – confident action that will yield positive results – provides kind of a slipstream into which reluctant nations and leaders can get behind and show themselves that there has been – you know, something positive has happened toward peace.'  It is perhaps Bush's most direct statement on the need for unilateral action by the United States as the shaping force in the world.  …  'At this moment in history, if there is a world problem, we're expected to deal with it,' President Bush said in an interview at his ranch in August. 'It's the price of power.  It is the price of where the United States stands.' " [21] (emphasis added)

Spiritual Pride:  We need to be careful that as a nation that we do not become too confident.  I'm perplexed when I hear Christians who believe that in comparison to other countries, America is special to the LORD.  I have heard it said that America is a chosen country.  Interestingly enough, America is not mentioned in the Bible.  It seems that if America was a chosen country or a chosen people, then surely the LORD would have identified America as such in the Bible.  We are to test everything that we hear or feel by Scripture.  If it doesn't line up with the Word, then we need to let go of whatever it is that we are holding on to. 

I personally believe that the LORD's hand is on America and that America is a blessed nation; however, America is not the chosen nation – Israel is!  And, I believe that one of the reasons that we as Americans are blessed is because of our support for the nation of Israel.  We are told that those who bless Israel will be blessed!  We need to keep in mind that the nation of Israel is the root that supports the branches that have been grafted in. 

Romans 11:18 do not boast over those branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you. (NIV)

Abraham Lincoln, as well, seemed to believe that America and the American people were something special.  I'm not sure how Lincoln came to that conclusion considering America's slavery and a Civil War during his own Presidency with the blood of a brother killing brother and defiling America's soil.   According to one of his biographers (emphasis added): "Skeptical of dogma, refusing to believe in eternal punishment, comparing himself to a doubting Thomas, guided by the nobility of the Bible, directed by dreams and signs, 'feeling and reasoning' his way through 'a twilight,' coming to think of himself as a homely prophet to an America he described as 'God's almost chosen people,' Lincoln revealed, late in his presidency, why he had 'never united [himself] to any church.'"  [22] (emphasis added)

The Diamondback Rattlesnake:  America's first allegorical symbol was Benjamin's Franklin's severed rattlesnake in thirteen parts with the caption, "Join, or Die".  The symbol of the rattlesnake was established during the Colonial days of America in 1754, thirty-six years before the geographical location of our Nation's Capitol was decided upon.  Later on as America evolved to be a nation, the rattlesnake became a familiar symbol of America – the symbol of the rattlesnake was seen on American flags, even in the art of the U.S. Capitol for the purposes of conveying the ideas of the time.   

The Diamond Shape of the District of Columbia:  George Washington would have known the symbolism behind a rattlesnake as well as Benjamin Franklin and I believe that the Diamond shape chosen by Washington for the District of Columbia was also symbolic of the "Diamond back" Rattlesnake – the rattlesnake already a symbol of America.  The "Y" shape formed by the Potomac River and the Eastern Branch River is also symbolic of the "Forked" tongue of the rattlesnake.  It's rather unsettling to known that our secular Founding Fathers regarded America as having the qualities of a rattlesnake.   

Our Founding Fathers stole land from the Native American Indians through deception, which is one of the characteristics of a serpent. The Native American Indians accused America's leaders of speaking with a "forked tongue".  The Native American Indians entered into many covenants only to have them broken by the leaders of our Nation. 

A Curse Over America:  According to Scripture the serpent is cursed and is symbolic of our adversary Satan, that old ancient serpent.  The rattlesnake as the symbol of America means that there is a curse over America.  This rattlesnake as America's first symbol identifies that the rattlesnake is first among the other principalities.  In other words the spirit behind the rattlesnake is the ruling principality over America - Satan.   The fact that the serpent has no eyelids is symbolic that Satan is constantly watching over America.

The Rattlesnake As A Colonial Symbol:  The rattlesnake became a symbol for America during the Colonial days.   What is the symbolism behind the rattlesnake? What belief or principle did Benjamin Franklin, George Washington and others want to convey?  The following is an account taken from The Flag of the United States – Your Flag and Mine:

 "As Commander-in-chief of the Navy, Admiral Hopkins when sailing in February 1776 displayed as his personal ensign a flag presented to him by Representative (Col.) Gadsden of North Carolina, being a lively representation of a rattlesnake in the middle of a yellow field and beneath it the slogan, 'DON'T TREAD ON ME.'

It must have been one or more of these twenty-two Committeemen, in conference with General Washington and Colonel Reed who determined the design of the flag which shortly succeeded the Pine Tree Flag and the Striped Union flag as the official emblems of the United Colonies.” [23]

"The use of the rattlesnake as a Colonial symbol arose from the iniquitous practice of the British Government of liberating hordes of criminals from English prisons and sending them to America as immigrants.  After several murders had been committed by these criminals, the American newspapers boldly criticized the practice.  In 1751 a writer suggested, in the Pennsylvania Gazette, that a cargo of rattlesnakes should be sent to England and distributed in St. James Park, Spring Garden and other London pleasure resorts in retribution of these murders and other wrongs. ….

During King Phillip's War in 1754 Benjamin Franklin published at the head of his Gazette (now the Saturday Evening Post) a curved rattlesnake cut into eight parts representing the Colonies then engaged in the French and Indian War with the motto ‘Join or Die.’  This device was published in other newspapers about this time and in 1775 the Penn Journal published a snake device with thirteen joints and the motto 'Unite or Die.'  In 1775 the Pennsylvania Journal published this device with nine sections and the Motto 'Unite or Die.'  A similar symbol was published in other newspapers at the outbreak of the Revolutionary War with a rattlesnake of 13 sections, one for each Colony, and the Motto 'Join or Die.'

Benjamin Franklin is credited with a profound analysis of the reasons why the Rattlesnake was considered a fitting symbol for the Colonies.  Briefly, these reasons are – The Serpent is an ancient symbol of wisdom; of everlasting life and endless duration.  It is often represented by a circle made by the serpent swallowing its tail, being symbolic of the determination of the Colonists that Liberty and freedom should endure forever in the New World (i.e. unto eternity).

The Rattlesnake is found only in America.  Its lidless eyes and keen vision symbolizes that vigilance of the Colonists to observe every untoward act of the Mother Country against them.  The Rattlesnake never attacks without giving due warning, thus symbolizing magnanimity and true courage, a marked trait of the Colonists.  But when attacked it fights until it is dead or victorious, symbolizing the determination of the colonies to 'die or be free.' 

Her weapons are concealed within her mouth giving her a defenseless appearance.  Those weapons, when shown and extended in defense, appear weak and harmless, but her wounds, however small, are decisive and fatal.  Conscious of this she never wounds until she has generously given notice even to her enemy and cautioned him against the danger of TREADING on her. 

Each rattle is distinct and independent of the others.  The rattles are so firmly united together as not to be separated except by breaking them to pieces.  England expected the Colonies would quarrel amongst each other and not unite as one firm, strong, confederated union…. One rattle is incapable of making any sound, but 13 rattles (13 colonies) united were capable of making a sound so loud as to challenge the boldest Englishman." [24]

Another flag historian remarked on the Rattlesnake Flags in a similar way:  "The Rattlesnake Flags were the product of the southern colonies.  The use of the 'rattler' as a symbol grew out of its distinctive qualities and the temper of the times.  Benjamin Franklin made an analysis of the qualities of the rattlesnake and compared them with the situation that existed at the time.  In general his timely and prophetic conclusions were: 

The rattlesnake is distinctively American, being found in no other quarter of the globe.  It has no eyelids, and may thus be esteemed an emblem of vigilance.  It never begins an attack, but once engaged, fights it out to the end and never surrenders.  These were the qualities of the hardy pioneers of America who were engaged in a mighty struggle for independence. 

Its weapons of attack and defense may appear weak and contemptible but the wounds they produce are decisive and fatal, a strong picture of the times and the temper of the people.  It is beautiful in youth and its beauty increases with age, a quality which has characterized America all through her existence as a member of the family of nations.

The rattles are independent of each other, yet they are so firmly united that they can not be separated without breaking the whole into pieces.  Singly no one of them can make a sound.  Operated together their loud buzz strikes terror to the heart of one who dares to molest the owner.  And so it was with the colonies; they were to be distinct and independent of each other in certain respects, and yet firmly united in others, again symbolized by the serpent's rattles.  Singly and alone no one of them could withstand the assault of the mother country, but joined together and working in unison they could and did strike terror to the heart of any nation who molested them.

New rattles are added as the years roll on, just as new states have been added to the union through the years.

While we respect the lofty thoughts of our ancestors, we are bound to suspect that it was the deadly nature of the bite of the rattler that was foremost in their minds when they adopted it as an emblem for their flag.  The warning motto, 'DON’T TREAD ON ME' bears out this viewpoint." [25]

America's flag has 50 stars representing America's 50 states.  That old ancient serpent Satan is also known as a star – the morning star.  Isaiah 14 [12] How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 

Deities were associated with "stars" and/or "animals".  Satan, referred to as masquerading as an angel of light, was identified with the morning star and identified with the serpent and dragon. 

U.S. Flag: Don't Tread On Me [26]

Scripture tells us that we are to tread on serpents.

Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (KJV, emphasis added)

For a Christian Nation – one would think that the above flag would read "Tread on Me".

According to the account of Genesis, Chapter 3, the serpent was cursed because he deceived Eve into believing that if she ate of the forbidden fruit that she would be as a god.  Adam himself was not deceived; however, he too ate of the forbidden fruit when Eve offered it to him.  Scripture says that Eve was deceived (2 Corinthians 11:3); nevertheless, Scripture tells us that sin came into the world through Adam (Romans 5:12).  Both rebelled against Yahweh. 

Because the serpent allowed Satan to use him as a vehicle in the fall of mankind – the serpent itself was cursed among animals.  In Revelation 12:9 Satan is referred to as that ancient serpent. 

A serpent is clever and is also symbolic of people who are imposters, swindlers, con artists and frauds. 

Matthew 23:33 ³Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? (KJV, emphasis added)  

The generation of vipers can appear to be modest, simple, and unassuming people, which makes them all the more dangerous.

The rattlesnake is also prominently displayed in the U.S. Capitol building: 

"In 1820, Causici petitioned congress to fund a marble version, which he identified as the Genius of the Constitution, the last of a venerable series of allegorical figures of Liberty in some guise planned for or installed behind successive Speaker's chairs.  She has her own guardian eagle, and at her side a rattlesnake is wound around a bundle of rods, or fasces, the ancient Roman symbol of civic authority and union.  Thus America's first allegorical symbol, Benjamin Franklin's severed snake of 1754, which represented the separate political situation of the colonies, was appropriately shown whole in the Capitol to represent the country united under the Constitution." [27]  (emphasis added)

This first allegorical symbol identifies the rattlesnake first among the other principalities over America.  Even though the spirit behind the rattlesnake is the ruling principality, we will find that the rattlesnake, obviously representative of Satan, manifested in a different form on what is now American soil much earlier than colonial times at Rattlesnake Island in 1565 when Jean Ribault and other Huguenots were martyred nearby.  Underneath the picture of Franklin's rattlesnake was the saying "Join, or Die."  Franklin was advising the Colonies to come together in unity – needless to say it was not unity in Jesus Christ.

The CIRCLE – The SQUARE - The TRIANGLE

The circles inside the Petroglyph are symbolic of both the spiritual and the natural

1.  The Natural:

Isaiah 40:22 reveals that the earth is circular in shape.

Isaiah 40:22 ²²It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:  (KJV)

And, Ecclesiastes 1:6 reveals that the elements move according to Yahweh's circuits. 

Ecclesiastes 1:6 ⁶The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.  (KJV, emphasis added)

Ecclesiastes 1:6 describes the wind going “Full Circle”.  Of interest is the particular direction that the wind takes.  The wind goes toward the south and then turns north and whirls around and around until coming full circle.  

The direction that the wind takes in Ecclesiastes 1:6 is also the direction that the 40 mile boundary stone markers took when being laid. 

George Washington was very specific in his instructions as to the direction and order that the 40 boundary markers were to be laid.  The survey was to be made from the Alexandria Court House “south” to Jones’ Point on Hunting Creek, at the Potomac then going North and then back South to the original starting point, “going full circle” back to Jones’ Point.

2.  The Spiritual: 

Job 22:14 reveals that Yahweh walks in the circuit of heaven: 

Job 22:14 ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.  

3.  The Abyss:

The Circle is also associated with the "abyss" as a circle. 

Proverbs 8:27 ²⁷  When he established the heavens, I was there, when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, (NRSV). 

The King James reads: 

Proverbs 8:27 ²⁷When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:

The "compass" according to Hebrews 2329 in Strong’s Concordance means a "circle".  And, "Depth" according to Hebrew 8415 means an abyss  - as a surging mass of water, especially the deep (the main sea or the subterranean water-supply) :- deep (place), depth.

The deep was not a place where the devils wanted to be sent. 

Luke 8:30-31 ³⁰And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. ³¹And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. (KJV)   The NIV reads the abyss instead of deep.

According to Luke 8, Revelation 9, 11 and 20 the deep or abyss is an area under the earth that is associated with the demons and devils and it is also a place where they are detained or imprisoned.  Given that demons and devils dwell there can explain why the waters in the abyss or deep are always referred to as chaotic.  For example, the waters in Genesis were chaotic.  Genesis 1:2 ²And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Leviathan, Chaos and Destruction:  In Job 41:32 we find that one of the dwelling places of the spirit, leviathan, is in the depths; the subterranean waters under the earth. 

Job 41:31 ³¹ He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. ³² He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

Leviathan is also king over all who are proud: 

Job 41:34 ³⁴ He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.  That the Leviathan lives in the deep associates him with chaos and destruction.

The Tiber Creek:  The spirit of Leviathan dwells in the subterranean waters of Washington, DC. 

Job 41:15 ¹⁵ His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.  

"Scales" is a key word because according to Strong’s Concordance, Hebrew 650 means: properly containing, i.e. a tube; also a bed or valley of a stream; also a strong thing or a hero: - brook, channel, mighty, river, + scale, stream, strong piece. 

What symbolism could anyone possibly use to convey the idea that Leviathan's scales are his pride in the sense of being contained in a tube?  Well, if scales imply being properly contained in "a tube", then we can find Leviathan, who dwells in the subterranean regions of the earth, also dwelling in Washington, DC in the subterranean waters that run under Constitution Avenue.  The Tiber Creek located at the base of Capitol Hill was eventually channeled through underground pipes.  Constitution Avenue, Union Station and several other buildings were sooner or later built over the Tiber Creek.[28]

Originally the Tiber Creek flowed above ground and was known as Goose Creek.  In due course, Tiber Creek was replaced by the Washington Canal only to be placed underground enclosed in a sewer.  Tiber Creek has been referred to as subterranean waters.

From Scripture we have the understanding that the Leviathan is a creature that only Yahweh can subdue.  Job 41:8-9 reveals to us that the Leviathan is a creature that we do not want to battle, because if we do, we will remember the battle and never battle him again.  Any hope that we have of subduing him is false. 

Job 41:7-9 ⁷Can you fill his hide with harpoons or his head with fishing spears? ⁸If you lay a hand on him, you will remember the struggle and never do it again! ⁹ Any hope of subduing him is false; the mere sight of him is overpowering. (NIV)

Leviathan, a creature of the deep, indicates to us that the Leviathan is symbolic of chaos and destruction.  The Tiber Creek is also associated with chaos, death and destruction. 

At one time not only could one find dead animals discarded in the Canal fed by the Tiber Creek, but also dead infants were known to have been found there. [29] Even the bodies of Union soldiers from nearby Leesburg, Virginia were carried by the Potomac River into the Tiber Inlet.   Deaths from malaria and other diseases were also attributed to the Tiber Creek and its Canal. [30]

The Tiber River, unfortunately, is "symbolically" an abode of the dead. 

Job 26:5 ⁵Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof. (KJV)

Job 26:5 is referring to the demonic spirits who live in the subterranean depths, not the spirits of men who have died. 

In Matthew 12:43-45 we find that demons cannot find rest in "dry" "arid" places.  For that reason demons will seek to find rest not only in a body of water, but also in a human whose body is made up of approximately 60% water on average. 

Leviathan & Ointments

Job 41:31 ³¹He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.  (KJV)

"He maketh the sea like a pot of ointment" seems to make no sense given that Leviathan is a god of chaos.   How can a god of chaos also make the sea liken unto healing ointment.  Actually, this verse is referring to the ancient practice whereby pagans relied on gods and sacred water for healing.  For example, in ancient Pergamum, people worshipped a pagan deity by the name of Asclepius.  Like Leviathan, he was a serpent and his worship centered around sacred water, medicine, herbs and ointments.  Again, Leviathan is a serpent as well as a sea animal. 

In Revelation 2:12-13 we read that Pergamos, Turkey is the seat of Satan.  Many believe that Zeus's altar, which is located at the top of the Acropolis in Pergamos, is the seat of Satan.  However, the geographical area where Satan's seat is located is at the bottom of the Acropolis in the Asclepion, not the top as many believe.  Given that Scripture refers to Satan as a serpent – not Zeus – then it seems unlikely that Satan's seat is that of Zeus.

At the bottom of the Acropolis there are ancient ruins of the Asclepion, an ancient medical center.  Asklepios was the Greek god of medicine and healing and was known to the Romans as Asclepius.  His emblem or symbol was a serpent, hence, the serpent entwined around a staff is the modern emblem of today's Doctors. 

The main worship was of Asclepius, the serpent god of medicine and healing.  This healing was not only connected to the worship of serpents; the healing was also centered around the so-called sacred fountain and the so-called scared healing water that flows from an underground spring.  The Asclepius was known for the use of herbs and ointments – just as in Job 41:31 ³¹"he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment".  They also relied upon the interpretation of dreams for a diagnosis.

Exodus 20:4 tells us that we are not to make images of any thing that is in the water under the earth.  Many people don't notice the wording that there is water "under" the earth. 

Exodus 20:4 ⁴ Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: (KJV)

Symbolism of the Square located within the Petroglyph:  The square is symbolic of the geographical and environmental:  the earth, water, air and fire.  The Square can also be symbolic of the spiritual.  For example, the four winds from the four corners of the earth mentioned in Scripture.  Wind is symbolic of a spirit.  Another example is the Square of Pegasus.  Again, “The Square of Pegasus” was considered the starting point in the mapping of the sky. [31]

Symbolism of the Triangle located within the Petroglyph:  According to Freemasonry and pagans, the triangle is symbolic of the spiritual.  However, this is not a concept that Christians should embrace. 

Even though some Christians, as well as pagans, use the triangle to represent deity, for example, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, it is not Scriptural.  Christians should not use the triangle or any other symbol to represent Yahweh, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. 

Deuternomy 4:12 ¹²  And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. (KJV)

Acts 17:29 ²⁹“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by man’s design and skill.(NIV)

To the pagan the triangle represented deity.  For the purposes of this paper, the triangle inside the diamond shaped fish petroglyph would be symbolic of three spirits brought down to the geographical or the worldly.   In ancient times, "…the triangles were conceived by the ancients to explain the secret order of the cosmos, …" [32]

Baal-Shalisha – god of Triangles:  Baal-shalisha, the god of three, is mentioned in 2 Kings 4:42.  All deities that are worshipped as part of a triune god would come under the dominion of Baal-Shalisha, the ruling deity or principality over triunes.  Even though three spirits may form a coalition against someone, that does not make them part of a triune in the sense that that is how they are formerly worshipped.   A coalition can be for a temporary or specific period to time.

According to Hebrew 1190, Strong's Concordance, "Shalisha" is from Hebrew 8031 and means: 

 “…  feminine from Hebrew 8027 (shalash); trebled land; Shalishah, a place in Palestine :- Shalisha.  Hebrew 8027:  a primitive root perhaps original to intensify, i.e. treble; but apparently used only as denominative from Hebrew 7969 (shalowsh), to be (causative make) triplicate (by restoration, in portions, strands, days or years) :- do the third time, (divide into, stay) three (days, -fold, parts, years old).    Hebrew 7969:  a primitive number; three; occasionally (ordinal) third, or (multiple) thrice :- + fork, + often [-times], third, thir [-teen, -teenth], three, + thrice.  Compare Hebrew 7991 (shaliysh).  Hebrew 7991:  from Hebrew 7969 (shalowsh); a triple, i.e. (as a musical instrument) a triangle (or perhaps rather three-stringed lute); also (as an indefinite great quantity) a three-fold measure (perhaps a treble ephah); also (as an officer) a general of the third rank (upward, i.e. the highest) :- captain, instrument of musick, (great) lord, (great) measure, prince, three [from the margin].

According to Ecclesiastics 4:12, a triple braided cord is not easily broken - which is good unless the triple braided cord is made up of three principalities who are in agreement with one another forming an alliance against Yahweh's people.  Cords can mean many different things.  For example, the cords in Ecclesiastics 4:12 are cords of unity.  Cords were also used to bind prisoners and used for measuring.  Cords can even be made from our sins:

Proverbs 5:22 ²²His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. (KJV)

Cords that bind principalities together or cords made of sin are spiritual cords and spirits can work through the cords of sin that are binding someone.

Triangles are Doors and Gateways:  There are numerous triangles located in Washington, DC and these triangles are gateways or doorways into the demonic or spirit realm.  The fish found on the earlier maps of DC identifies a gateway as well.  The fact that the earliest known Semitic symbol of a fish meant "door" or more specifically a "tent door" because of the triangular or tent shape of the fish, supports the triangle being symbolic of doors or gateways.

One of the first known alphabets is the Semitic alphabet.  This alphabet used pictures to convey ideas or objects; for example, the picture of a door or fish.  According to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, Daleth is the fourth letter of the Hebrew Alphabet and came to be used as the number four as well (see table below). [33]

Daleth meant a door; to the Greeks it was written in the form of a triangle and originally Daleth was probably dag - meaning a fish.  The door more specifically was a "tent door" because of its triangular shape.  Daleth in the Greek alphabet is delta, symbolically ∆, a triangle.  And, it is our letter D.  According to The International Dictionary of the Bible, the Greek counterpart to Daleth was delta, and Daleth meant “'door'; perhaps originally dag, 'fish'”. [34]

Daleth in the Semitic alphabet was portrayed as a diamond shaped fish with a triangular shaped tail.  This description can also be applied to the fish outline on earlier maps of DC and the fish petroglyphs. 

Earlier in this paper it was pointed out that the symbol of a fish is symbolic of “Dagon”, Leviathan and Rahaab.  At this time, I want to call attention to the “threshold” of “Dagon”.  I believe this is significant given that a threshold is connected to a door and that “Daleth” meant door and was portrayed as a diamond shaped fish with a triangular shaped tail. 

1 Samuel 5:4-5 ⁴And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. ⁵Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. (KJV, emphasis added)

Potomac River The fish petroglyphs referenced above along the Potomac River are very similar to the Semitic fish symbol.  As can be seen from the symbol, there is also a Y shaped tail connected to the diamond shaped fish.  These similarities will help us understand the symbolism of George Washington's diamond shaped perimeter of Washington, DC and the Y shaped symbol within the perimeter, as well as why the fish is cradled within the Y.

If you look again at the map of Washington, DC where the Mall area in the form of a fish is cradled in the Y formed by the Potomac River and the Eastern Branch of the Potomac – the triangular top of the Y can easily be symbolic of the Delta.  If it is symbolic of the Delta, then this particular geographical area would be considered a "Door" or more specifically a "Gateway". 

The Headsprings of the Potomac River is a Gateway

The Fairfax Stone Identifies the Apex of Two Triangles:

The First Triangle:   Outlined in yellow, on a map known as the "Fry & Jefferson Map of 1751" – shown is a triangle formed by The Hume Line and the Fairfax Line with the Blue Ridge at the base below.  The Fairfax Stone that marks the headsprings of the Potomac River also serves as the “Apex” of this triangle.  Within this triangle lies the 5,282,000 acres once owned by Lord Fairfax and surveyed by George Washington.  

Thomas Jefferson’s Grandfather was among the particular surveying party that drew the following map.   

The First Triangle

The Second Triangle:  The Fairfax Stone also serves as the “Apex” of the second triangle which is outlined in pink.  The West Virginia/Maryland border serves as the left side of this triangle and the right side is formed by the Potomac River. 

Again, two Gateways or Doors are identified. 

In another chapter the triangle as a “door” or “Gateway” and the significance of triangles in America’s roots will be addressed as well as how triangles were a factor in the Civil War.  For example, at Gettysburg, without realizing the spiritual significance of triangles and gateways, Lee found himself in the Gateway of his enemy. 

“Then he learned that Longstreet and Hill were at Chambersburg, moving toward Gettysburg, while Ewell’s corps occupied both Carlisle and York.  Thus Lee was spread out on a triangular line more than fifty miles long at its base between Chambersburg and York, and extending twenty-five miles northward to its apex at Carlisle.  … And now, seeing the Army of Northern Virginia spread out at those three points of the triangle, Meade could also see that if Lee should try to concentrate his army for a battle, the shortest route for all three arms would be for them to move to their center – almost exactly at the Gettysburg cross roads.”   

“Rapidly the momentum of events began to take over.” [35]  (emphasis added)

Furthermore, it was at “Surrender Triangle” that the Confederate Troops surrendered at Appomattox.

Many, including Lee and his officers could never understand Lee’s confusion and out of character decisions that he made at Gettysburg; however, confusion is a manifestation when someone finds themselves “entrapped” inside a triangle of their enemy. 

The Three Principalities Represented by the Three Concavities on the diamond shaped Fish:

The three concavities are located within the inner diamond shape of the petroglyph; however it’s important to understand that the diamond shaped fish in itself is symbolic of a fourth principality.  This particular principality would be the ruling spirit and his particular dominion that which the other three principalities are under.  I believe that this ruling spirit is the “Beast out of the Sea”.

The Beast out of the Sea or Antichrist spirit is over everything inside the geographical image of the fish.  However, this spirit is not the ruling principality over all of Washington, DC or America.  At times the Antichrist spirit may have legal access to another geographical area, but not be the ruling principality over that area.  The identity of the ruling principality must come by Holy Spirit revelation.  The Antichrist spirit will always be under the dominion and authority of Satan.  Even though Satan may give power and dominion to the Beast out of the Sea, Beast out of the Earth and others, they are still under his authority.  For an explanation of how Satan as the sup planter gained legal access to America, see the section on the American Crusades.

Revelation 13:1-10 reveals that Satan will give the “Beast Out of the Sea” his power, his throne and great authority to deceive men.  Therefore, men worshipped both Satan, the dragon and the Beast out of the Sea, which is the antichrist spirit.

Keeping in mind that the Freemasons would use one symbol to convey multiple messages, let’s move on to an expanded meaning of the symbolism of the fish. 

U. S. Capitol:  The fish outline encompassing the Mall area is symbolic of (1) Dagon, (2) Leviathan and (3) Rahab.

1.  Dagon

In the Old Testament we find that the Philistines worshipped "Dagon" a "fish god".  This fish deity had the body of a fish and the hands and head of a man.  The Assyrians and the Babylonians also worshiped Dagon.

1 Samuel 5:1-7  ¹And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Eben-ezer unto Ashdod. ²When the Philistines took the ark of God, they brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.  ³And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again. ⁴And when they arose early on the morrow morning, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the Lord; and the head of Dagon and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold; only the stump of Dagon was left to him. ⁵Therefore neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that come into Dagon's house, tread on the threshold of Dagon in Ashdod unto this day. ⁶ But the hand of the Lord was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, even Ashdod and the coasts thereof. ⁷And when the men of Ashdod saw that it was so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god. (KJV, emphasis added)

"The Threshold of Dagon Is A Door and the Threshold Connects Dagon to the Serpent as well as a Fish" 

"Threshold" according to Hebrew 4670 in Strong’s Concordance means: “from the same as Hebrew 6620 (pethen); a stretcher, i.e. a sill :- threshold.  Hebrew 6620, Strong’s; from an unused root meaning to twist; an asp (from its contortions) :- adder.”

Zephaniah 1:9-10 ⁹In the same day also will I punish all those that leap on the threshold, which fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit. ¹⁰And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an howling from the second, and a great crashing from the hills.  (KJV, emphasis added)

The Fish Gate is generally accepted as the gate that the spirit of antichrist will come through in the end times when attacking Israel.  The outline of the fish in the District of Columbia is definitely a “gateway” and “door”.  And, Satan’s influence is apparent in the laws that are being passed.

The large fish forming the outline of the Mall area can also be thought of as having the body of a fish and attributes of a man as well.  For example, President Lincoln's monument is in the head of the fish, symbolic that the fish thinks like a human, President Jefferson's is the heart of the fish, and so on.  In other words, in this sense the fish that outlines the Mall is symbolic of the fish deity "Dagon", identifying "Dagon" as one of the ruling principalities over our Nation's Capital.  Keep in mind as well that the District was born out of water – the first cornerstone of the District was laid at Jones Point where Hunting Creek meets the Potomac River.

2.  Leviathan

Leviathan:  The Leviathan would be under the dominion of the Anti-Christ spirit as well.  The spirit of Leviathan dwells within the subterranean waters in Washington, DC.

Isaiah 27:1 ¹In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea. . (KJV)

Dragon according to Hebrew 8577, Strong’s Concordance: “or tanniym, tan-neem'; (Ezek. 29:3), intensive from the same as Hebrew 8565 (tan); a marine or land monster, i.e. sea-serpent or jackal :- dragon, sea-monster, serpent, whale.”

The spirit of Leviathan was directly involved in the 911 tragedy in America (refer to separate article).

3.  Rahab

Rahab means to be proud and arrogant and is a poetical reference to Egypt in Psalm 87:4; 89:10; and Isaiah 51:9.  Rahab was symbolic of a dragon or a large sea monster.   I don’t believe that I need to expand on the pride and arrogance found in Washington, DC.

The Beast Out of the Earth – The False Prophet

Leviathan and Rahab are identified as serpents as well as some form of a sea monster and Dagon is associated with the serpent because the threshold in his temple was considered sacred.  Again, one of the meanings of threshold in the context of Dagon, is to twist, an adder, in other words, a serpent.  The connection to a serpent identifies the presence of the Beast Out of the Earth, which is the False Prophet.  The Beast out of the Earth acts on behalf of the Beast out of the Sea – Revelation 13:11-18.  Therefore, whenever a spirit of antichrist is operating, more than likely you will always find the influence of the false prophet as well.

Square of Pegasus Considered the Starting Point in the Mapping of the Sky

Again, the Diamond Shape or Square that George Washington chose for the perimeters of Washington DC and the fish encompassing the Mall area inside that diamond is symbolic of the Square of Pegasus connecting Washington, DC with the spiritual or heavenlies and with the country of Egypt.

Pegasus is a square – oriented in the skies as a diamond.  According to the Secrets of the Great Pyramid, the fish inside a rectangle is a symbol of Pegasus and The Square of Pegasus is considered the starting point in the Mapping of the Sky (the spiritual). [36] We have already pointed out that Washington, DC was laid out by “stargazing” and that a compass rose, located in the crypt of the US Capitol, was also used as a starting point from which state lines were measured (the earthly). [37]

The District of Columbia is self governed - a city unto itself.  It does not fall under the dominion or laws of any state in the Union.  Keeping in mind that the District is symbolically portrayed on the earlier maps as a "fish inside a square", we will now find a connection to Egypt given that the hieroglyph for a district of Egypt, neither belonging to the north nor south of Egypt, was portrayed as a rectangle, either empty or filled with water or fish. [38]

To make the connection to the Square of Pegasus we need to understand the role that our Capitol played as a starting point in the mapping of state lines (the earthly) and that the square of Pegasus was considered the starting point in the mapping of the sky (the spiritual).

In The Beginning ~ The Starting Point

Washington directed the surveyors to "Begin" their survey at Jones Point where the Hunting Creek meets the Potomac River.  In other words, the "beginning" of our Nation's Capitol began out of the water. [39]

Water has always been an object of veneration to pagans.  That our Nation’s Capital was born out of water would be compatible with their beliefs.  In fact, the day the first boundary marker was set in place at Jones Point on April 15, is considered the birthday of Washington, DC.

All Roads Lead to the Potomac:  "In The Beginning" - All roads lead to the Potomac.  Much of our Nation's history is in some way connected to the Potomac River.

The Spirit of George Washington is Everywhere on the Potomac [40]

1. President George Washington was born on the banks of the Potomac River

2. At sixteen years of age, Washington surveyed the Potomac River all the way to the headwaters

3. His home, Mount Vernon, where he died, overlooked the Potomac River

4. He chose the banks of the Potomac River as our Nation's Capitol

5. He was part owner of the Patowmack Company, a canal company chartered to make the Potomac River navigable from Georgetown to Cumberland, MD

6. In solving the political problems surrounding the Patowmack Canal, Washington started a chain of events that led to the writing of the Constitution of the United States  [41]

Fish & Idolatry

It’s obvious that fish was an object of idolatry in the ancient world.  Again, the Philistines worshipped Dagon, who was both a fish deity as well as a grain deity.  The Babylonians had their fish deities and in Habakkuk Chapter 1, we find that they even paid tribute to the fish net that was used to catch the fish as well as to men who they consumed like fish.

As stated in the beginning of this section, the LORD compared certain Nations to fish.  Egypt was one of the nations that the LORD compared to a fish and there is a spiritual connection between Washington, DC and Egypt as well as the connection between Washington, DC and ancient Nineveh as mentioned in the beginning of this section. 

Ezekiel 29:3-5, 9 ³Say, Thus says the LORD God; Behold, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, the great monster [of sluggish and unwieldy strength] that lies in the midst of his [delta] streams, [boastfully] declaring, My river Nile is my own and I have made it for myself.  ⁴But I will put hooks in your jaws [O Egyptian dragon] and I will cause the fish of your rivers to stick to your scales, and I will draw you up out of the midst of your streams with all the fish of your streams which stick to your scales. ⁵And I will cast you forth into the wilderness, you and all the fish of your rivers; you shall fall upon the open field and not be gathered up or buried.  I have given you for food to the [wild] beast of the earth and the birds of the heavens. …  ⁹And the land of Egypt shall be a desolation and a waste.  Andy they shall know (understand and realize) that I am the LORD [the Sovereign Ruler, Who calls forth loyalty and obedient service].  Because you have said, The river is mine and I have made it.  (Amplified Bible, emphasis added)

Ezekiel 29:3-9 ³Speak to him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says:  “‘I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, you great monster lying among your streams.  You say, “The Nile belongs to me; I made it for myself.”  ⁴ But I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales.  ⁵I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and not be gathered or picked up.  I will give you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the sky.  ⁶ Then all who live in Egypt will know that I am the Lord.  “‘You have been a staff of reed for the people of Israel. ⁷ When they grasped you with their hands, you splintered and you tore open their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and their backs were wrenched.  ⁸ “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring a sword against you and kill both man and beast. ⁹Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord.  “‘Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it,” (NIV, emphasis added)

In Ezekiel 29 Egypt is identified as the great monster and the Egyptian dragon.  The dragon in this context is referring to a "sea-serpent". 

The Nation’s River:  And, in Ezekiel 29 the Nation of Egypt full of “pride” declares that the Nile River is its own. 

The Nation’s River:  “The Nation’s River” of America according to all is “The Potomac River. 

And in many ways George Washington “claimed the Potomac River as his own”.   Washington’s life seems to be intertwined with that of the Potomac River.  One can hardly read anything about the Potomac River or George Washington without some connection being made between George Washington and the Potomac River.  Going back to the quote from National Geographic “The Spirit of George Washington is Everywhere on the Potomac”

Washington would have been familiar with Freemasonry’s interest in the mysteries of ancient Egypt and their influence on Freemasonry, which was profound.

It has already been pointed out that the image of the fish that makes up the boundaries of the Washington Mall is symbolic of the Dominion of Sea Serpents which include the spirits of Rahab, Leviathan and Dagon.  And, given that Rahab is a poetic name for Egypt, we should not be surprised to now find that it also includes the great sea dragon of Egypt that dwells in the Nile River, more specifically the nation of Egypt itself. 

The obelisk is an ancient Egyptian symbol that stands for fertility and immortality.  And, it seems appropriate that “Secular America” would choose this Egyptian symbol to represent George Washington, the proclaimed father of America.

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is the Father of America and it is He that owns not only the Potomac River, but all Rivers.  As a Christian, I want to state that George Washington is neither the father of America nor is the Potomac River his or America’s.  All the honor and all the glory belong to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

And, just as Egypt was about to experience desolation because they deceived and betrayed those Israelites who trusted them ….. Be mindful, God’s children in America are not to be considered or consumed like fish by those who believe they are more powerful.

Tyre – the Daughter of Zidon

That Zidon’s name means fish and was considered the mother of Tyre is of the utmost importance and relative to the image of the fish surrounding Washington’s Mall.  Isaiah 23 is “A Prophecy regarding Tyre”, which was an important Phoenician seaport.  According to verse 12 we find that Tyre, figuratively speaking is the “Daughter of Zidon”.  

Isaiah 23:12 ¹²And he said, Thou shalt no more rejoice, O thou oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, pass over to Chittim; there also shalt thou have no rest. (KJV, emphasis added)

Zidon, like Tyre, was an ancient seaport; however, Zidon was the older of the two cities and was the first established Phoenician seaport whose name means “Fish”.  According to Strong’s Concordance, not only does the name “Zidon” mean fishery or to catch fish, it is by implication to figuratively catch men. 

It seems logical, figuratively speaking, that Tyre would be the daughter of Zidon given that Zidon is the older of the two cities and was the first established seaport of the ancient world.  Tyre and Zidon were approximately twenty-five miles apart and were often spoken of as though they were one city.  In fact, at times the King of Tyre was also the King of Sidon as well. 

Again, that Zidon’s name means fish and was considered the mother of Tyre is relative to the image of the fish surrounding Washington’s Mall.  Given Freemason’s alleged relationship to the Biblical Hiram, King of Tyre, and their knowledge of the ancient pagan religions, then the Freemasons would have been knowledgeable that the productive power of nature was the particular objective of Phoenician worship.  And, it’s important to understand that when the Phoenicians worshiped the mother goddess, the mother was more important than either the father or the son that formed her trinity.   

Therefore, given Freemasons understanding of ancient symbolism, the fish symbol would be a perfect icon for Freemasons to acknowledge and portray Zidon as the mother of Tyre and the relationship of both Zidon and Tyre to the sea.  The “Fish Symbol” would serve the purpose to portray both the nature worship and mother goddess worship of the Phoenicians as well. 

Phoenicians and mother goddess worship

Given their knowledge and acceptance of pagan deities, Freemasons would understand the mother goddess worship embraced by the Phoenicians and somewhere incorporate her symbolism into their iconography for the specific purpose of acknowledging Zidon’s role as the mother of Tyre.  The mother goddess worship included three spirits:  the mother, the father and the son, with the mother the most important of the trinity.  Therefore, Zidon as the mother of Tyre would be significant to the Freemasons in their choice of symbolism.  And, given that Zidon’s name means fish, it would be logical for the Freemasons to incorporate her symbolism into their iconography in the design of Washington, D.C.

Phoenicians and nature worship

In ancient times the fish symbol was symbolic of a woman’s womb.  Again, Zidon, the mother of Tyre, portrayed through the symbolism of a fish would be to convey the Phoenician’s worship of reproduction in connection with nature.  For example, The Popular and Critical Bible Encyclopedia And Scriptural Dictionary states:  “According to the Phoenician religion the special object of worship was the vital power in nature, which is either producing or destroying.  The productive power of nature, again, is either procreative, masculine, or receptive, feminine.” [42]

The Woman:  The fish would represent the feminine, the mother, while

The Man:  The Washington Monument, symbolic of George Washington, the Father of America, is located inside the fish and would represent the masculine, the Father.

1 Kings 11:5  ⁵For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. (KJV, emphasis added)

Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Zidonians, was a “moon goddess” whose consort was a sun deity.  Again, we see their connection to nature.  George Washington’s Monument is not only an Egyptian phallic symbol it is also connected to sun worship, in the sense that the sun gives life.  Interestingly, one of the earliest pictures of Washington, if not the earliest shows him wearing a very large crescent moon around his neck, which further connects him to the Phoenician moon goddess.  According to ancient mythology, the female goddess was the consort of the male sun deity.  The crescent moon that Washington wore connects him to the Phoenician moon deity whose sacred symbol was the fish and the Washington Monument, the obelisk connects Washington to Ashtoreth’s consort, the sun deity. 

The Popular and Critical Bible Encyclopedia And Scriptural Dictionary goes on to say:  “These fundamental ideas are represented by the Phoenician gods, who appear under a great variety of names, because these leading ideas may be represented in many different ways”. [43]  In fact, pagan gods in general appear under different names and are represented in a variety of ways.  Why?  Because Satan is a god of confusion and that explains why one deity can manifest in various ways under different names. 

One of the many names of Ashtoreth was Ashtaroth-Karnaim and under this identity, the fish was sacred to her.  “Hence there were as ‘many Ashtoreths” or Ashtaroth as Baals.  They represented the various forms under which the goddess was worshipped in different localities. … At Ashkelon, where Herodotus (i.105) places her most ancient temple, she was worshipped under the name of Atar –gatis, as a woman with the tail of a fish, and fish were accordingly sacred to her.  Elsewhere the dove was her sacred symbol.” [44]  Again, another connection to the fish laid down by the Freemasons in Washington, D.C. 

Strong’s Concordance:  “Zidon” also spelled “Sidon”, according to Strong’s Concordance: from Hebrew 6721 and means:  from Hebrew 6679 (tsuwd) in the sense of catching fish; fishery; Tsidon, the name of a son of Canaan, and of a place in Palestine :- Sidon, Zidon.

Hebrew 6679, Strong’s:  a primitive root; to lie alongside (i.e. in wait); by implication to catch an animal (figurative men); (denominative from Hebrew 6718 (tsayid)) to victual (for a journey) :- chase, hunt, sore, take (provision).

Symbolism of Good & Worthless Fish in Scripture:

Jesus Christ compared men to fish and in Matthew 13:47-48 we find Jesus explaining that there are both good and worthless fish. 

Matthew 13:47-48 ⁴⁷Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet which was cast into the sea and gathered in fish of every sort.  ⁴⁸When it was full, men dragged it up on the beach, and sat down and sorted out the good fish into baskets; but the worthless ones they threw away.  (Amplified Bible, emphasis added)

Jonah & Nineveh:  In addition to the specific meaning in Matthew 12:39-40, there is additional significance behind why it was a “great fish” that Jonah spent three days inside.  Specifically, the fish was symbolic of Nineveh.

Given Jonah’s call to Nineveh, it seems that he would have been aware that Nineveh was ideographically represented by the picture of a fish inside the enclosure of a city.  Interestingly, Jonah spent three days inside the belly of a great fish, the same amount of time that it took Jonah to give his message to all of Nineveh.  It seems that Jonah would have understood that one way or another that he was going to Nineveh, either literally or figuratively, again, given the fish was symbolic of Nineveh.  

The Potomac River:  The District of Columbia was born where Hunting Creek meets the Potomac River at Jones Point in Alexandria, Virginia.  The first of forty stones were laid surrounding the 40 square miles of the District.  The stone laid at Jones point was the "Beginning" – the first stone laid on April 15.  Ironically, years later, President Lincoln died on April 15.   The Potomac River was born out of the Compromise of 1790 and it was the dividing line between the North and the South in the Civil War. 

Note:  The dividing line for the Civil War is detailed further in another section.  However because of my personal experience with how people react to the above statement I want to briefly touch on the subject.  Because of the general acceptance that the Mason Dixon Line was the dividing line between North and South, to say that the Potomac River was the dividing line, at least from personal experience, is highly offensive to people’s intellect.  Why?  From my understanding it is difficult for people to find out that what they were taught and believed for many years is a lie.  It’s almost as though their very intellect is being challenged.  Consider the facts:  Despite the fact that Maryland, Delaware and West Virginia were south of the Mason Dixon Line, nonetheless they were Union states.  

The Fairfax Stone marks the headwaters of the Potomac River in Thomas, West Virginia.  Some believe that as a youth, George Washington, placed this stone at the headwaters. [45] And, West Virginia was the only state born out of rebellion during the Civil War.  I believe there is a spiritual significance to the headwaters being in this particular state and the circumstances by which West Virginia was born into the Union.  And, at one point Fairfax Stone served as the base line from which the State of West Virginia was surveyed.

"In the administration of Egypt, the area between 29^o  51' and 30^o  06' north was organized as a special district which did not belong either to the list of nomes (provinces) of Southern Egypt nor to that of nomes of Northern Egypt.  The hieroglyph for this district is a rectangle which is either empty or filled with water or fish.  A distinguished Egyptologist, being at a loss for a better explanation, has read this hieroglyph as 'fishpond.'  He did not realize that a rectangle, either empty or filled with water or fish, is the symbol of the Square of Pegasus.  … There are in the sky four stars which are at a distance of about 15^o  from each other and mark a square with sides that run according to the celestial meridians or parallels; these four stars form the Square of Pegasus.  In iconography this square was at times portrayed as filled with water or fish, because it was in the constellation of Pisces.  The Square of Pegasus was considered the starting point in the mapping of the sky.  The ancients, from he Sumerians to the Romans, in surveying land began by marking a square of a standard dimension and then proceeded to measure out of it in checkerboard pattern.  In cuneiform texts the name iku is given to the basic surveying square, to a unit of land surface, and to the Square of Pegasus.  The hieroglyph used to refer to the district extending for 15' from Memphis-Sokar to theapex of the Delta indicates that this district was considered the basic reference unity from which there started the mapping of Northern and Southern Egypt."

Names of the Letters:  The names of the Greek alphabet are derived from the Semitic names and are meaningless in the Greek, while in the Semitic it has been pretty clearly shown that they signify for the most part some object or idea of which the earliest form of the written letter was a picture, as e.g. �aôleôph, the ox. The forms of the letters are apparently derived from pictures of the ox, house, etc., made linear and finally reduced to a purely conventional sign which was itself reduced to the simplest writing motion. All this has been boldly denied by Mr. Pilcher (PSBA, XXVI (1904), 168-73; XXVII (1905), 65-68), and the original forms declared to be geometric; but he does not seem to have made many converts, although he has started up rival claimants to his invention.

The names of the letters at least seem to indicate the Semitic origin of the alphabet, since the majority of them are the Semitic names for the objects which gave name to the letter, and the picture of which gives form to the written letter.
